Barcelona

Tuesday 11th

We woke a bit earlier this morning. David was up shortly after 9am, while I stayed in bed until 10am. David went to Deck 10 to sun himself until we met up for breakfast, then went back for more sun (as it was not too hot at that hour of the morning) while I pottered around in our room.

The ship was berthed a reasonable distance from the town so we caught the shuttle bus (about 5-10 minutes of driving) to the World Trade Centre. From there it was a short walk to La Rambla. We explored La Rambla and local side streets. At one point I found myself in a sex toy shop, where David had to explain to me what a few of the gadgets were for. All I had seen in the window were brightly-coloured objects. David hung back amused until I realised where I was.

It was a hot and humid day. We looked for a nice bar with wifi and found one near the cathedral. When we sat down we were told that we could only sit there if we ordered food. We had to go into the hotel bar if we just wanted a drink. We therefore sat in airconditioned comfort in armchairs to catch up on wifi and cool down with a drink.

We did not get back to the ship until 6pm and had a great rush to be ready in time for dinner, but managed to shower and change and look fabulous in just 20 minutes. Julie and Chris, our tablemates, had seen us walking onto the ship and so did not go down to dinner until late. Good timing.
